Micon Blog has moved –

The Micon Films Blog has moved…

And where has this thing moved to? Finally back over to Micon Films.

I’ve updated the links on the Micon Films site, the new address is www.MiconFilms.com/blog

It had been sitting on the Midnight Drive Pictures site for a long time now and I finally got tired of looking at the address when I post things up on external sites.

So now its back home where it belongs…and will be updated there from now on. :-)

Introducing – Korben Bacon

 Introducing – Korben Bacon

Yes, it’s a boy! We went in for Shannie’s big mid term Ultrasound and it’s confirmed… I can officially stop calling him Bibbol now. lol…

And of course he gave the scan tech all kind of grief, not sitting still for a second. As she was taking images with the scanner I thought the profile image was pretty crazy. The first thing I thought but didn’t say when she froze on it was “Wow…that looks like my profile”. When we came back from dinner and were looking at the images taken Shannie looked at that profile pic and said the same thing. lol…

Kind of nuts…

All his scans came out great. Everything in working order.

I needed to go to Ikea to find a screen to keep the kittens from running amok in my studio and couldn’t help myself. These are the first toys purchased for my baby boy! Dragons and Sharks…lol.

Actually the three tiny dragons I purchased for the cats. They love em’. Judo has probably 50 of these little Ikea toys and she plays with them everyday…and the kittens love them too. It’s been quite lively around here lately.

Shannie purchased this cool Robot and Spaceship graphic fabric to make Korben his first Xmas Stocking….and yes, it completely matches his ol’ man’s. :-) Outstanding!

*** I make video games for a living…what did you expect? :-)

SbiG Night Presents – Piranha 3D

This Thursday marks the 1st Anniversary of SbiG night, and since the very first “official” SbiG film we screened was Barracuda, we thought it appropriate to start this year’s SbiG night off with a bang and watch PIRANHA 3D!

PIRANHA 3D -

When: Thursday Evening, Nov. 17th

Time: 7:30pm

Where: The Bacon Estate

The synopsis: Mutant fish with sharp pointy teeth terrorizing a popular beach resort with lots of blood and titties! Sounds like a real winner!

TINMAN UPDATE – Let’s Get MediEvil

Wow, I finally got the TINMAN weapon and helmet props this evening from Eric / Morb-X and they look pretty bad ass.

The helmet needs a little more texture and a few minor tweaks but the weapon is spot on from the concept. Pretty cool!

Everybody out of the Pool -

It pains me to say it but production on HOSTILE FORECLOSURE is on hold until after the new year. Sorry people.

I’ve been trying to figure out the variables to slip this one in before the end of the year but it’s just not going to happen.

The reason is basically schedule conflicts and budget.

We have a couple deal-breakers I can’t resolve in the schedule and I’m pretty much stale-mated on the budget with the new home purchase coming up in a couple months.

I launched that Indie-GoGo campaign which I can already tell isn’t going to do anything…so that was basically the budget I needed to get this shot with my Finances tied up at the moment.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. As soon as we get the house thing out of the way, we’ll get back into productions.

In the meantime I have a couple things I’ll be working on.

I want to flesh out a ultra low scope feature we can shoot with available assets. I guess I got a little inspired with Will Ferrell’s new film “Everything must go”. It was a pretty fun engaging film, but it basically takes place almost entirely in his front yard. lol..genius!

I think it’s safe to say I can shoot shorts, and everything I heard on PREY was basically it was good, but it was wayyyy to short.

I really want to try my hand at a long format…even if the scope of the picture is low-key on a shoe string budget. We have a lot of assets from previous films, gear, talent…so I’m going to rack my brain to come up with something that’s small in scope that can be shot realistically over the course of a couple months, and I’m sure there will be a “Bazooka” in it somewhere. lol…

We’ll get back to HF as soon as we get the home thing under wraps.

Thank you..

MB

Mid-Week Musings

I had this old “Omni” magazine when I was a kid and I always remembered this cartoon. The caption at the bottom read “It’s just one God Damn thing after Another”. lol..

I’m still working out new dates for the film, but there are a few snags coming up. Jesse is booked on a feature shoot pretty much all of Nov-Dec so I’m not sure how that’s going to work out.

He does have a few single open days in there, but they don’t really jive with what we need to do so I’m not sure what I’m going to do here. I don’t really want to find another DP, so I’m still weighing the options.

Good for Jesse though, that’s awesome.

As you probably already noticed, I changed up the blog again. I couldn’t handle the clutter of the other one, and didn’t like the way it handled comments and older page content so I had to change it. I like this a lot better so it will probably stick around for a while.

On other fronts, I finished Mr. Benjamin’s Actor reel so he’s got some stuff he can pimp out now.

In the mean time I’m kind of decompressing a little. I burnt myself out pretty bad on PREY not getting enough sleep during the post production effort and doing the Sony Gig so I’m taking a small breather.

I dusted off the stratocasters tonight and jammed over some fun fusion backing tracks with the Vox amp….lol. I forgot how much I miss playing my guitars. My chops were r-u-s-t-y…but it was still fun.. lol.

Maybe I need to get joker over here to jam some tasty licks with me. :-)

SbiG Night Presents – Humanoids from the Deep

In honor of next week’s Anniversary SbiG night, we’re going to stay with the water monster theme this week and screen this gem of a cult classic!

HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP -

When: Thursday Evening, Nov. 10th

Time: 7:30pm

Where: The Bacon Estate

The synopsis: Large mutant frog monsters looking for beach poon. Nothing really much more to say about this one other than it’s going to be a good one!

EQ2 – Age of Discovery

Were getting pretty close to shipping the new EQ2 Box Expansion so here is the Cover Art for the product soon to hit shelves at the end of this month.

Time has been blasting by but we’re looking forward to getting this out the door and on to the next one.

In HF news some snags have been hit with those last dates I sent out so I’m looking into different ones…so ”Everybody out of the Pool”. :-(

I had a few people that have stuff going on that weekend and Jesse, the DP we used on PREY is currently shooting a feature that’s running through Dec. and part of Jan. He wants to shoot with us, but his current schedule is pretty full so I’m looking at his shooting schedule seeing where we figure something out.

I’ll get back to everyone on dates as soon I get that squared away.

In other news, we have the 1st anniversary of “SbiG” coming up next week. Good grief, has it really been a year that we’ve been doing these?!

In honor of it’s anniversary on the 17th, we’ll be screening the 2011 version of ”Piranha”. lol..

We kicked off SbiG officially a year ago with “Barracuda” so Piranha seems pretty fitting. We saw a few clips of the new one a couple days ago and it’s completely SbiG worthy. Should be a fun time.

Mark your calendars. :-)

Hostile Foreclosure – IndieGoGo

Doing it Live!

Here is the IndieGoGo campaign for HF. It would really help us out this time around, so if you know anybody that wants to be part of the film by donating a little, we would really appreciate it.

I talked to Deb today about the ranch and the location is a lock now, so we are pretty much ready to go on that front. I’m setting shoot dates on Sat/Sun Dec  3rd and 4th so let me know asap if this is going to be a problem for anybody.

That’s 4 weeks from now.

I would like to get together with everyone to go over wardrobe and table reads so I’ll let everyone know when those will be in the next day or so. In the mean time I’ll be putting together storyboards and pre-production materials. Yeehaa.. :-)

EVERQUEST II: Free Port Revamp Interview

SOE has put up an Interview / First look with Tim Haydelaar about details on the upcoming revamp of the City Freeport I’ve been working on. Link to the full article below.

http://www.everquest2.com/news/read/current/5011

Tonight I got some more work done on Lauren’s reel. Added a cool active vibe of a soundtrack to it giving it some edge she was looking for on it. Still have a lot of work to do on it, but it’s starting to take shape now.
